Globetrotting former Olympian needs to pack some protein
0By Monique Savin - The Globe and Mail
Before Rosey Edeh, 44, became a reporter for ET Canada, the former college track star represented Canada in three Olympic Games. Now her athleticism helps her race between movie premieres and airports.
My goal
“To always keep my level of endurance and strength high; I used to run 400-metre hurdles and now I love running 5K and 10K races for charity.”
My workout
“I copy my old coach’s workouts, but I don’t worry about speed. I have a Nautilus combination system at home where you turn the keys to have anywhere from five to 50 pounds in your hands, so I do two to three exercises per body part, two days a week. And I do a lot of circuit training, so I might do lunges with some weights, stop, and give legs a break and do bench press or even push-ups, and then go back to lunges, and then back to push-ups. For core, I do crunches with a five-kilo medicine ball. Realizing cross training gives my body a break, six years ago I added the elliptical machine or the recumbent bike to my cardio workouts, which are about 40 minutes, five days a week.”
Nikki Yanofsky Speaks Out About Bullying…
0From Just Jared Jr!
Nikki Yanofsky is adding her voice to the campaign against anti-bullying.
The 16-year-old singer caught up with ET Canada before and after her performance at Canada’s Walk of Fame concert event last weekend. Check out what she had to say about the cause:
“I’ve always been a huge advocate against bullying because I myself was actually a target all through elementary school I was tormented every day. Not physically but verbally and actually when I was in the 6th grade, we still don’t know who to this day because it was anonymous, but people kept putting gum in my hat – chewed gum. So when I put it on it would get stuck in my hair and they would put it in my boot and I would have to buy new boots because it would get stuck to my sock. I had to go to school everyday living in suspicion of everyone in my class and I was very very very lucky to have a great support system.”
Her advice to others getting bullied: “I learned that you have to know who you are even if you’re unsure of it. You can’t doubt yourself you just have to have confidence and I know that’s easier said then done trust me I know that but you just have to keep your head held high even if you don’t believe it because soon enough you will. I would just say you have to treat it like water off a ducks back and know that all they’re looking for is a reaction and if you don’t give it to them then it will stop.”
Audi Best Buddies 10k Challenge…
0Best Buddies Canada knows how to launch into an inaugural race! Nevermind the rain, hundreds of enthusiastic, caring people came out Sunday morning to support a really good cause. I was lucky enough to be asked to MC the Audi Best Buddies Charity Run AND I got to hang out with some amazingly accomplished athletes! Joannie Rochette, Tessa Virtue, Scott Moir, Alex Bilodeau and Mike Weir brought a special sparkle to the grey day. They were
warm and friendly with anyone who wanted a pic or even a chat. Love those guys and love what Penny Shore and Daniel Greenglass- co-founders of Best Buddies Canada- has done with the organization. Penny, Daniel, you help enhance the lives of the intellectually disabled people across the country, keep on keeping on you guys! So many are touched by what you do! And who can forget organizer Mary Lynn Futers. Awesome job ML!!
New York City, baby!
0I love NY! First I hear Alicia Keys‘ Empire state of Mind(love that song!), then I spot Larry King at my hotel, yep, I’m in the big apple! King may seem kinda frail but he keeps on keepin on, gonna miss him when he’s off TV.
Instead of taking a cab to screen Life as we Know It with Katherine Heigl, I walk ’cause traffic in the city is NUTS! Yep, worse than usual. The UN is hosting the world and NY’s finest are on high alert. Fine with me, I walk, therefore I shop!
Walking for a bit and hey! I didn’t know Mariah Carey has her own store! [edit: okay, she doesn't haver her own store, it's an Elizabeth Arden store all decked out in Mariah's perfumes.] Lots of pink perfume inside. Of course, it’s on swanky 5th ave. Love that diva!
Tomorrow, interviews with Justin Timberlake for Social Network, (fascinating flick) and Katherine Heigl and Fergie’s hubby Josh Duhamel. Wish me luck!
Oh! BTW, I bought a pair of jeans at Sisley at Columbus circle. Yep, I’m a happy diva!
Malin Akerman – TIFF – red carpet for Bang Bang Club
0So what’s it like to be a celebrity on the red carpet at The Toronto International Film Festival? Toronto actress Malin Akerman (The Proposal, Couples Retreat) handles it with poise and ease wearing a J.Mendel gown. She was at TIFF supporting her new film The Bang Bang Club, in which she stars opposite Ryan Philippe. Fashion critics were torn on whether the dress was fierce or a fashion faux pas. You be the judge!

Teen Choice Awards
2OK, who says teens are hard to get along with? I’m not saying it’s always all perfect but it was so cool going to work with my kid (she hates it when I call her that) Micha. Give ‘em a little taste of the real world!
The Teen Choice Awards- it’s all about this young, fun vibe. Most of the celebs we talked to were all about gratitude. They know they’re the chosen few, the lucky ones who made it in the biz. BTW, Jimmy Fallon has the softest hands in the world!! Jackson Rathbone is all charm, Nina Dobrev is stunning, and Bronson Pelletier- what can I say- love him!
OK, now off to work out. It’s about weights this week. Med weight, lots and lots of reps! Building up endurance and strength. Gotta get ready for TIFF- it starts Sept 9. Come back and visit for celeb video and pics right here during Toronto’s huge party!!
One Love, Divajock
Special Guest of the PM…
0Was the PM’s special guest at the opening ceremonies of the World Junior Athletics Championships in Moncton, NB. Talked track & field with the PM, music (he’s heard of Lady Gaga), and movies (he’s seen the latest). He was into the women’s 3km race and presented medals to the winners. I’ll be at the WJC all week as the on-field announcer, will speak at a Women In Sport breakfast on July 24 and MC a very cool multicultural festival later that evening. Meanwhile looking forward to meeting more ET Canada fans from the Maritimes. So far everyone has been really friendly. Some even remember me from my track days. Thanks, Moncton!
